CITY AS A CANVAS
ACADEMIC | INDIVIDUAL | URBAN REGENERATION | 2024 Cities are made up of spaces, people and narrative. The design project focuses on Riga, the capital of Latvia and it’s narratives. I firmly believe that the relationship between a city and its residents is shaped by their shared experiences over time. Despite enduring numerous challenges such as wars, industrialization, preservation of old heritage, the Soviet era, and more, Riga stands resilient today. In celebration of the city’s endurance and its journey towards a sustainable future, the City’s Canvas Biennale aims to forge lasting connections between people and Riga, transforming the urban landscape into a lively hub of celebration. By employing urban acupuncture techniques across various city spaces, the design initiative activates overlooked areas, fostering connectivity and creating a ripple effect that binds individuals together, thereby enhancing community resilience.
